Gov’t to reintroduce road and bridge tolls to fund infrastructure

In a move aimed at boosting funding for road maintenance and infrastructure projects, the Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced the reintroduction of road and bridge tolls across the country.

In a statement released on Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Ministry revealed plans to implement a modern, technology-driven toll collection system designed to improve efficiency and convenience for commuters.

Though full details of the new system will be shared at a later date, the Ministry assured the public that the process would be transparent, competitive, and cost-effective. The reintroduction of tolls is seen as a necessary step to generate much-needed revenue for ongoing and future road projects.
