The Government’s Transition Team has denied allegations of irregularities in the ongoing recruitments and payments by the outgoing administration.

The statement comes in response to concerns raised by President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Transition Team over last-minute government actions.

In a statement issued on Friday, December 13, 2024, the Government’s Transition Team clarified that, while an agreement had been made with the joint team to submit significant payments, recruitments, and related activities for case-by-case review, these actions were not illegal. The team stressed that all recruitment processes had received the required statutory approvals.

Fatimatu Abubakar, spokesperson for the Government’s Transition Team, urged anyone with specific concerns about illegalities to bring them to the attention of the Transition Team for review. She also dismissed reports claiming that the team had decided to halt all ongoing recruitments and payments, calling such reports inaccurate.

Abubakar reiterated the outgoing administration’s commitment to a smooth transition, stating, “We remain committed to passing the baton to the incoming government on 7 January 2025.”
