The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has denied recent reports alleging its involvement in the auctioning of vehicles, describing the claims as “false.” In a statement issued on December 11, the GRA clarified that it follows established procedures for auctioning vehicles and goods through its Customs Division.

The authority also issued a strong warning to the public to be cautious of fraudulent schemes, advising individuals not to make payments to any unauthorized persons or groups mentioned in the misleading reports.

Highlighting its commitment to transparency, the GRA urged citizens to rely solely on official communications for accurate information. The authority specifically addressed a fake media release, dated December 3, 2024, which falsely claimed to be from the Commissioner-General. The release bore the signature of former Commissioner-General Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah but listed the current Commissioner-General, Madam Julie Essiam.

The GRA reiterated that the notice circulating in the public domain was entirely “FAKE.”
