The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has called on the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) to end its strike, describing the timing as “poorly chosen” and urging for further dialogue.
The request came after a closed-door meeting on January 3, 2025, following CETAG’s strike action, which began on January 2 over unresolved issues.
In a statement, GTEC Director-General Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai criticised the strike, stating that it was counterproductive and disruptive, especially as admissions are underway and the release of WAEC results has just occurred. He emphasized that GTEC is committed to addressing CETAG’s concerns and urged the association to suspend its strike to continue discussions.
