The High Court has ruled in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), compelling the Electoral Commission (EC) to recollate and declare the results of two unresolved polling stations in the Tema Central constituency.

In a decision handed down on January 4, the court directed the EC to complete the collation and announce the final results by January 6, 2025.

The ruling follows concerns over the delay in declaring the results, which has led to uncertainty within the constituency.

The court also instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure sufficient security is provided during the collation process, in a bid to prevent any disruptions.

The Tema Central seat has been a flashpoint, with both the NPP and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates claiming victory. The EC’s compliance with the court order is expected to bring clarity to the contentious electoral race.
