Renowned Ghanaian gospel artist Piesie Esther has opened up about her initial skepticism of social media, revealing she once believed it was a creation of “Maame Water”—a mythical water spirit often cited in Ghanaian folklore.
In an interview with Adom TV, the singer behind the hit song Mo explained that she was wary of social media when it first gained popularity, associating it with potential negative consequences. “We always heard the negative side of social media,” she said. “At first, I thought social media was for Maame Water when it became so popular.”
However, Piesie Esther shared that her perspective shifted as she learned more about the platform’s role in modern communication and business. “Eventually, I realized it’s now a part of our lives and far from what we thought,” she remarked. “Everyone has to embrace it to help their ministry or business.”
The singer highlighted that, for her, social media has become an essential tool, offering opportunities for growth in both her personal and professional life. She noted that while initial perceptions were often clouded by fear, the platform’s potential to enhance careers has now become clear.
