In a stirring inaugural speech, President John Dramani Mahama laid out a candid and resolute roadmap for Ghana’s future, pledging transparency and decisive action to navigate the country through challenging times. “I intend to always tell you the truth,” Mahama affirmed, addressing the nation with a blend of realism and hope.

Acknowledging the gravity of the current situation, Mahama stated, “The circumstances we find ourselves in are indeed dire. And if it so, I will be decisive and restrictive in my actions.” He outlined a focused strategy targeting four critical areas to drive the nation’s recovery and progress.

The President’s first priority is economic restoration and the stabilization of the macroeconomic environment, a step he believes is essential for regaining financial stability. “Our second focus is on improving the business and investment environment to ensure that Ghana is once again open for business,” Mahama added, signaling a commitment to revitalizing the nation’s economic prospects.

Governance and constitutional reforms emerged as another key pillar of his agenda. “We must ensure that our governance structures are robust and reflective of our democratic aspirations,” he emphasized.

Lastly, Mahama vowed to uphold accountability and intensify the fight against corruption. “Accountability is not just a promise, but a commitment to the people of Ghana,” he declared.
