Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has firmly rejected rumors about the health of Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, urging Ghanaians to ignore the “vicious propaganda” circulating online.
Speaking to a group of Ghanaians in Lagos, Nigeria, Mr. Ablakwa assured the public that the Vice President is in good health and will soon resume her official duties. “I want to assure you that she is doing very, very well. Your prayers have really helped. I’ve heard from her personally, so I know what I’m talking about. Please ignore all that very vicious and un-Ghanaian, evil propaganda,” he said, calling on citizens to disregard the unfounded rumors.
Referring to the Vice President as “our mother,” Mr.Ablakwa praised her strength and reassured the public that there is no reason for concern. His remarks come amid increasing speculation about Opoku-Agyemang’s health following her prolonged absence from public events, sparking online commentary and speculation.
While there has been no official confirmation of any illness, anonymous social media accounts and political opponents have fueled baseless claims about her wellbeing. Despite this, government officials have consistently downplayed these rumors, maintaining that there is no cause for alarm.
Mr. Ablakwa’s comments are the latest in a series of efforts to reassure the public and dispel any doubts about the Vice President’s health and capability. “Our mother is doing very, very well,” he reiterated.
