Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare has called on Christians across the country to actively promote peace as the nation gears up for the December 7 general elections.

The IGP and the Police Management Board designated Sunday, November 24, as a day to visit churches to emphasize the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after the elections. Speaking at the Church of Pentecost in Accra New Town, Dr. Dampare expressed gratitude to the congregation for their prayers and urged them to combine prayer with proactive efforts to support law and order.

“We are here to thank you all for your support as we prepare for the upcoming elections,” he said. “The peace we have experienced so far during this election period is unprecedented, and it is because of God’s hand on our country and our willingness to be vessels of His use.”

Dr. Dampare called on Ghanaians to assist the police in ensuring the elections are conducted peacefully, stressing the goal of making the 2024 polls the most peaceful in the nation’s history.

The police chief’s visit forms part of a broader effort to engage with religious and community leaders to foster a spirit of unity and cooperation ahead of the elections.
