National Organizer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has said he’s happy with the Electoral Commission’s decision to disqualify the Presidential Candidate of the party.

Richard Botwe explained that his happiness stems from decision by some executives of the party not to contest in the 2024 elections due to the passing of their founder, Madam Akua Donkoh.

According to him, although some executives did not want the party to contest in the elections to honour the founder and leader of GFP, the General Secretary filed nominations for the party to be included in the elections.

“All the party executives are happy about the disqualification concerning the decision we took when we lost our late mother, Akua Donkoh,” he told TV3’s Noble Crosby Annan in an interview at the EC’s headquarters shortly after the disqualification was announced.

Richard Botwe had earlier written to the EC for the party to be excluded from the 2024 elections.
