The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, is set to appear before Parliament on Tuesday, March 25, to provide an update on the recent raid at the home of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Ernest Addison.

The Minister is expected to offer clarification regarding the legal basis of the search warrant and explain the role of National Security operatives involved in the operation. Questions have been raised over the conduct of the officers during the raid.

However, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has confirmed that the Minister will not be available on the scheduled date. He added that an alternative date for his appearance will be announced.

Mr. Ayariga also disputed the use of the term “raid,” describing the incident as a lawful execution of a search warrant. “The law enforcement officers were fully within their rights to conduct the search,” he said, requesting that the term “raid” be removed from official records.

The controversy follows an early morning operation on March 20, when heavily armed National Security operatives entered Dr. Addison’s home in Roman Ridge, disabling CCTV cameras, ransacking the property, and seizing two vehicles. The vehicles were later returned.

This has sparked concerns regarding the legality of the operation and whether proper procedures were followed.
