Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has called on election officials to maintain integrity and professionalism in the upcoming 2024 elections.

In a speech on December 5, Mensa emphasized the vital role electoral officials play in ensuring a credible and transparent electoral process. She reminded them that the EC’s responsibility is not to elect a President or Members of Parliament but to conduct elections that are fair, orderly, and professional.

“Our role is to conduct credible, fair, and efficient elections,” she said. “We charge you to do it with integrity, guided by truth, and to follow the Commission’s directives, including the proper handling of votes and posting Pink Sheets at all polling stations.”

Mensa particularly highlighted the significance of Presiding Officers, whose work at polling stations, culminating in the Pink Sheets, directly influences the election outcome. She urged officials to perform their duties with honesty, transparency, and dedication.

“Remember, at the end of the day, we will be answerable to God for our actions,” she concluded, urging officials to carry out their tasks under God’s guidance.
