Kafui Danku-Pitcher named Executive Secretary of NFA

Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Kafui Danku-Pitcher has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), a key body overseeing the country’s film industry.

Mrs. Danku-Pitcher, a highly regarded figure in Ghana’s creative arts sector, brings a wealth of experience as a filmmaker, author, and entrepreneur. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English and Classics from the University of Cape Coast and is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) at the University of Ghana.

With over a decade of experience in the film industry, Danku-Pitcher has been involved in various capacities, including as an executive producer at ABC Pictures Limited since 2013. Her career also spans work with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), where she demonstrated her ability to monitor standards, analyze data, and implement solutions.

As an advocate for social change, she has led initiatives like the ‘Silence Is Not Golden’ campaign, which encourages women to speak out, and has been a strong voice in combatting child marriage and supporting malnourished children.

Madam Danku-Pitcher’s work has earned her recognition from the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) for her contributions to advancing women’s roles in politics, peace, and security.

In her new role at the NFA, she will leverage her extensive expertise in leadership, governance, and creative industry management to drive growth in Ghana’s film sector. Danku-Pitcher is also committed to fostering economic development through strategic policies and partnerships aimed at boosting the creative arts industry and its contribution to Ghana’s GDP.

Her accolades include multiple awards, such as Tourism Personality of the Year 2024 and Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneur’s Rising, and she has been invited to speak at major global summits, including the UN Summit of the Future 2024 and the Women Empowerment Summit. Through her leadership, Danku-Pitcher is poised to continue advancing the creative arts in Ghana and beyond.
