Kings University College in Ghana has awarded a four-year scholarship and free accommodation to Jeffery Ebo Arhin, a final-year student at Swedru Senior High School, after he gained attention for returning a lost purse he discovered on campus.

The scholarship will allow Arhin to pursue a degree in any field of his choice once he completes his secondary education. In making the award, the university and its partner, Kingdom Group Ghana Limited, praised Arhin for demonstrating integrity and kindness in a moment when such values are often underappreciated.

Vincent Semavor, CEO of Kingdom Group Ghana, expressed admiration for Arhin’s actions, noting the rarity of such acts in today’s world. “Jeffery’s decision to return the purse, without seeking recognition, is a powerful reminder of the importance of integrity. We felt it was essential to highlight this act,” Semavor said.

In addition to the scholarship, the university donated food supplies, including rice, maize, and garlic, to Swedru Senior High School, further supporting the institution’s role in shaping young people’s character.

Arhin, who said he had no expectation of recognition, explained that his decision was driven by empathy. “When I realised the owner of the purse was a boarder, I knew it would be difficult for him to lose the money. That’s why I chose to return it,” he said.

The scholarship highlights the university’s commitment to rewarding acts of character while encouraging others to follow Arhin’s example of selflessness.
