Former Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor has endorsed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the ideal leader to guide Ghana through its current economic challenges, calling him the “best man Ghana needs at this moment in our history.”

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Kufuor expressed confidence in Bawumia’s capabilities, describing him as a leader with a clear vision and deep understanding of Ghana’s economic landscape. According to Kufuor, Bawumia’s innovative approach to governance, particularly his focus on digitalisation and economic reforms, sets him apart as the candidate best suited to lead the nation.

Kufuor recalled the criticism he received years ago when he first described Bawumia as a “man of destiny,” an endorsement that sparked mixed reactions. Despite the opposition, Kufuor remains firm in his support for Bawumia, whom he believes has the foresight and expertise to address Ghana’s economic challenges.

“People criticised me for calling Bawumia a ‘man of destiny,’ but I had my reasons. I think he’s the best leader for Ghana right now. Ghanaians should give him a chance,” Kufuor said.

Kufuor praised Bawumia’s track record, highlighting his ability to navigate complex economic issues and implement forward-thinking policies. He emphasised that under Bawumia’s leadership, Ghana could see significant progress in its development.

As Ghana approaches its next electoral cycle, Kufuor’s endorsement of Bawumia underscores a growing support base for the Vice President’s bid to take on the country’s highest office.
