Ghanaian actor and film producer Kwadwo Nkansah, known as Lilwin, has disclosed the significant investment he made in his film A Country Called Ghana, including a payment of over $40,000 to secure Nigerian actor Ramsey Noah for a key role.
In an interview with Zionfelix, Lilwin explained the financial commitment, stating that the $40,000 fee did not cover additional costs such as accommodation and meals. He also mentioned the challenges he faced when negotiating with another actor whose asking price was too high. “When I called, they assumed I was Nigerian and tried to charge even more,” he noted.
Beyond the film’s production costs, Lilwin emphasized the substantial expenses incurred in promoting the movie, which he estimates at over one million Ghana cedis. He highlighted the impact of his promotional strategy, which included over 20 billboards and 4,000 T-shirts. “The promotion I did helped me buy the Benz, and it played a key role in attracting ministers and MPs to the premiere,” Lilwin added.
The movie, which sparked significant buzz in Ghana last year, held two major premieres in Accra and Kumasi, further fueling the conversation surrounding the film.
