President John Dramani Mahama has named former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei and eight others to the board of Ghana National Gas Limited Company (GNGLC), expanding the state-owned energy firm’s leadership amid ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s natural gas sector.

The new appointments include Kofi Totobi Quakyi, a former Information Minister, who will serve as board chairman, and Judith Adjobah Blay, who assumes the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer.

In addition to Osei, the board comprises:

Emmanuel Vincent

Nasira Afrah Gyekye, Member of Parliament

Samuel Kwame Borlu

Awulae Agyefi Kwame II

Baba Abdul Jamal Adama

Blay Nyameke Armah, Member of Parliament

The appointments were announced in a statement by GNGLC on April 30, which emphasized President Mahama’s confidence in the board’s capacity to provide strategic oversight and enhance operational efficiency.

“We look forward to working with the new Board to enhance the company’s operations, address challenges, ensure quality standards, and foster peaceful coexistence,” the company said.

Ghana Gas, a critical player in the West African country’s energy infrastructure, processes and supplies natural gas to power plants and industries. The new board is expected to oversee key initiatives as Ghana continues to develop its energy independence and industrialization agenda.
