President John Dramani Mahama has announced the appointment of new District Chief Executives (DCEs) for eight of Ghana’s 16 regions, as part of efforts to bolster local governance and development.
The appointments, which align with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act (2016), aim to strengthen district-level administration and promote grassroots transformation.
The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, confirmed the nominations in a statement, highlighting that the new appointees must receive approval from their respective District Assemblies before taking office.
These appointments are intended to fill vacant DCE positions and improve service delivery at the local government level.
