President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of the Ashanti Region and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, that his administration will ensure the region receives its fair share of national development resources.

During his visit to the Manhyia Palace for the first Akwasidae Festival of 2025, Mahama expressed his gratitude to the Ashanti Region for its pivotal role in his 2024 presidential victory, despite it not traditionally being seen as a stronghold of his party.

“I want to thank Asanteman for the confidence and votes that helped secure the victory,” Mahama said. “When we are sharing the national cake, I will make sure that the Ashanti Region gets its fair share.”

The President also revealed plans for a private meeting with the Asantehene, where key national issues, including the ongoing Bawku conflict, will be discussed. The Akwasidae Festival, a major cultural event for the Ashanti people, provided Mahama with the perfect opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the region’s development and his broader national agenda.
