In a keynote address at the Chinese Lantern Festival Gala held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on February 9,  President John Dramani Mahama expressed confidence that Ghana is actively taking steps to overcome its current economic difficulties.

Despite the ongoing challenges, Mahama emphasized Ghana’s commitment to restoring economic stability through strategic initiatives and key international partnerships.

The president also underscored the robust relationship between Ghana and China, acknowledging China’s pivotal role as a development partner. Mahama’s comments highlighted the importance of global cooperation in addressing both national and international issues.

“We are working diligently to address the economic challenges we face,” Mahama said. “We are grateful for our partners, including China, and as we move forward, we must continue to foster cooperation, ensuring that the benefits of these partnerships are shared equitably across our nation.”

In his speech, Mahama also reflected on the broader global context, noting the multitude of challenges the world faces, from economic uncertainty to climate change. Drawing inspiration from the lantern festival, he stressed that even amid adversity, hope and resilience remain crucial. “Unity and perseverance,” he added, “will guide us through these challenging times and help us create a brighter future.”

Through his remarks, Mahama reinforced the importance of international collaboration in Ghana’s economic recovery and sustainable development.
