President-elect John Mahama has called for a seamless and transparent transition process, urging the newly inaugurated Joint Transitional Team to uphold the principles outlined in the Presidential Transition Act.
Speaking at the joint transitional meeting at the Accra International Conference Centre, Mahama emphasized the need for cooperation, mutual respect, and transparency during the handover of power.
“This is a crucial moment, and I congratulate all those selected or nominated to serve on the joint transitional team,” Mahama said. “The transition is an essential step in ensuring a peaceful and democratic handover of power from one elected government to another.”
Mahama highlighted that the transition process, as mandated by the Presidential Transition Act, which was signed into law in 2012 by the late President John Evans Atta Mills, should be conducted in a spirit of collaboration and openness.
“The aim is to ensure a smooth and peaceful transfer of government administration, in accordance with the law and the wishes of the Ghanaian people, as expressed in the recent elections,” Mahama stated.
The President-elect expressed confidence that the Joint Transitional Team would work within the legal framework to ensure a smooth transfer of power.
