President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate reversal of all land allocations and sales related to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The decision seeks to prevent further encroachment on public lands and preserve the integrity of the nation’s resources.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Foreign Minister, revealed the directive in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 5, stating that it specifically impacts parcels of land adjacent to the Ministry’s offices in the Airport Residential area of Accra. These lands had been allocated to seven individuals and organizations under the previous administration.

“Yesterday’s presidential directive will nullify claims to the Ministry’s adjoining land at Airport Residential, ensuring that it remains preserved for the people of Ghana,” Ablakwa said. He expressed his appreciation for President Mahama’s swift and decisive action, emphasizing the importance of protecting state property from unauthorized sales or encroachment.

Mr.Ablakwa also reaffirmed his commitment to preventing the disposal of any property belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whether within Ghana or abroad. “Under my leadership, no land or property of the Ministry will be sold,” he stated, underscoring his resolve to protect the Ministry’s assets from future attempts at privatization.

The directive marks a significant step in the ongoing effort to safeguard public lands and resources, with implications for both local and international property holdings managed by the Ministry.
