President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his commitment to ensuring the Volta Region receives its fair share of national development, acknowledging the region’s historical contributions and addressing past grievances related to political marginalisation.

Speaking in Ho on January 24, 2025, during his “Thank You Tour,” Mahama thanked the Volta Region for its steadfast support, which he said was instrumental in his electoral victory. He pledged to tackle the region’s developmental challenges, which he attributed to years of neglect tied to its political alignment.

“The Volta Region has always been a beacon of support for the National Democratic Congress and for me personally. It has been a stronghold for Ghana’s democratic progress since 1992,” Mahama said.

He further acknowledged the region’s critical role in Ghana’s progress, stating, “Your immense contribution to the success of our party and my election as President is a testament to the strength of the bond that exists between us.”

Recognising the region’s developmental struggles, Mahama promised that change was forthcoming. “We acknowledge your challenges, years of neglect, and alienation from national development due to your political choices. But I stand here to assure you that this narrative will change,” he said.

His comments were met with enthusiasm, as residents expressed hope for renewed focus on the region’s needs under his leadership.
