President-elect John Dramani Mahama has made stabilising Ghana’s currency a key priority for his administration, following a smooth transition of power.

Speaking about his plans for the future, Mahama acknowledged the economic challenges facing the country, including inflation and the depreciation of the cedi, which he said have affected many citizens.

“We are focused on revitalising Ghana’s economy, stabilising the currency, and reducing inflation. This is a critical moment for Ghana, and we need to strengthen ties with our international partners, including China,” Mahama stated.

The remarks came during a visit by the Algerian Ambassador to Ghana, Mourad Louhaidia, who paid a courtesy call to congratulate Mahama on his victory.

Mahama expressed confidence that his administration would introduce strategies to stimulate economic growth and improve relations with key global partners. He also revealed plans to establish a delegation to engage with China on technical cooperation once the transition process is complete.
