Former President John Mahama has instructed an urgent meeting with key players in Ghana’s energy sector to address the growing threat of power shortages.

John Abdulai Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu and former Deputy Energy Minister, confirmed that the meeting, set for 10 am today, will be chaired by the Chief of Staff. It will bring together representatives from power generation companies to discuss solutions to stabilise the power supply and avert a recurrence of “dumsor” – the term used for power outages in the country.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, Jinapor attributed the crisis to the previous administration’s failure to secure adequate fuel supplies for power generation.
