President John Dramani Mahama is set to present the final list of his ministerial nominees to Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament on Monday, January 20, 2025, fulfilling his pledge to announce his full cabinet within two weeks of taking office.

The list is expected to include appointments for key positions such as Defence, Interior, Environment, Health, and Labour, alongside three Regional Ministers. Mahama has committed to maintaining a lean government with no more than 60 ministers, aligning with his goal of a more efficient administration.

Reports circulating about a third batch of nominees, including names such as Rashid Pelpuo for Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak for Transport Minister, and Sam George for Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, were swiftly denied by the President’s Communications Team. The Office of the President labelled these claims as “false and misleading” and urged the public to disregard them, reiterating that official announcements will only come through authorized channels.

The January 20 submission will conclude the process of assembling Mahama’s cabinet, as he prepares to implement his policy agenda.
