President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghana’s newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners to take his administration’s “Reset Agenda” to the international arena, using diplomacy to foster strategic partnerships and advance the country’s global standing.
At a swearing-in ceremony held at the Presidency on Thursday, President Mahama described the Reset Agenda as a cornerstone of his administration’s policy framework — aimed at restoring public confidence, rebuilding institutional trust, and driving inclusive national development.
“This agenda is our blueprint — a bold effort to restore hope, rebuild trust, and rekindle the path to shared prosperity,” Mr. Mahama told the diplomats. “While much of the work is domestic, your charge is to carry this vision abroad, cultivating strategic alliances and unlocking global opportunities for Ghana.”
The Reset Agenda emphasizes principles of transparency, integrity, and inclusive governance, aligning with Ghana’s long-standing foreign policy traditions, which Mahama reaffirmed during his address. These include Pan-Africanism, peaceful coexistence, self-determination, and advocacy for justice and equity in international affairs.
The envoys — posted to key diplomatic missions across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa — are expected to attract investment, enhance bilateral ties, and raise Ghana’s diplomatic profile. Several of the postings reflect strategic geopolitical and economic interests, including Washington, Beijing, London, and Abu Dhabi.
