President John Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to the independence of the Bank of Ghana, declaring he will not direct the central bank to print more money.

Speaking at the swearing-in of new BoG Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama in Accra, Mahama emphasized responsible monetary policy, ensuring the bank remains free from political influence.

“As President, I am committed to ensuring that the central bank operates free from political interference, guided solely by its mandate,” he said.

The President further urged the Governor and his deputy to “uphold responsible fiscal management” and to adhere strictly to the legal and regulatory framework of the Bank.
