Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Elmina in the Central Region on Monday, December 2, 2024, to demand the return of GN Bank, as part of the ongoing “Bring Back GN Bank” campaign. The protest, led by Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, founder of Groupe Nduom and GN Bank, saw participants from various backgrounds expressing frustration over the bank’s closure in 2019.

Protesters marched through Elmina’s main streets, calling for the reinstatement of the bank to support local businesses and create jobs. Many voiced their disappointment with the Elmina traditional council and government, accusing them of betraying the community’s trust.

In his speech, Dr. Nduom condemned the closure of GN Bank, calling it a “targeted attack on Ghanaian entrepreneurship and innovation.” He emphasized the bank’s vital role in supporting small businesses and rural communities, and expressed hope that a new administration would see the value in reinstating the institution.

“This is not just about me, it’s about restoring hope and confidence in our local businesses,” he said. The protest in Elmina is part of a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness of GN Bank’s contributions before its license was revoked. Dr. Nduom remains optimistic about the bank’s potential reinstatement, pledging to continue the fight with the support of the people.
