The Minority in Ghana’s Parliament has issued a stern warning to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), vowing to hold the government accountable for every promise made during the 2024 elections.

In a heated debate on January 21, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin sharply criticised the NDC’s campaign pledges, accusing the party of misleading voters with unrealistic promises. He stressed that electoral victory does not give the government free rein to act without scrutiny.

“We will hold your feet to the fire,” Afenyo-Markin said, making it clear that the Minority would closely monitor the government’s actions. He warned that Ghanaians would soon see the NDC’s true intentions and that the Minority would ensure the promises made during the campaign are not left unfulfilled.

Despite being labelled a “micro Minority,” Afenyo-Markin reiterated that his caucus would stay vigilant, demanding that the government live up to the expectations it set during the election. “We will follow through on every single promise,” he added.

The Minority’s firm stance signals a commitment to holding the government to account, ensuring transparency and responsibility as the NDC moves forward in office.
