Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, has blamed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general elections on low voter turnout among its supporters.

Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, December 14, Aboagye pointed to a significant drop in NPP votes compared to 2020. In the Ahafo region, the party saw a decrease from 145,000 votes in 2020 to 113,000 in 2024. Similarly, in Greater Accra, NPP votes plummeted from over 1.25 million in 2020 to just 681,000 this year.

Meanwhile, Alhassan Suhuyini, Member of Parliament for Tamale North, suggested that the NPP’s defeat was due to its poor performance, which he argued had alienated many voters.
