MultiChoice Ghana has clarified its position on the government’s recently announced DStv value upgrade, stating it fully supports the initiative and attributing confusion caused by an online FAQ to a publishing error.
The statement, released on Tuesday, follows public concern over apparent contradictions between the Communications Minister, Samuel Nartey George’s announcement and information shared on the company’s website.

The government’s initiative, which runs from 1 October to 31 December 2025, offers DStv subscribers enhanced value at no extra cost—a move aimed at improving affordability and customer satisfaction in the pay-TV sector.
MultiChoice addressed the controversy by outlining three main points:
- Full Support for Upgrade: The company confirmed it has begun implementing the value upgrade as outlined by the minister and is working in alignment with government policy.
- Open Access to All Subscribers: The offer is available to all customers—new, returning, and existing—with no limitations on which bouquet they can access under the promotion.
- Three-Month Review Period: A review committee will meet at the end of the promotional period to assess its effectiveness and determine next steps, based on user feedback and performance data.
MultiChoice also issued an apology for the earlier FAQ, acknowledging that it created confusion and may have appeared to contradict the government’s message.
“We regret the error and any misunderstanding it caused,” the company said.
The clarification is likely to reassure customers and stakeholders following media reports that highlighted inconsistencies in the rollout of the promotion.
The DStv value upgrade is part of ongoing efforts by the Ghanaian government to ensure more equitable access to digital content and greater transparency in the pricing of pay-TV services.
