Murtala Mohammed, the Minister-designate for Environment, Science, and Technology, has called for enhanced collaboration between ministries and agencies in addressing environmental challenges, particularly noise pollution.
During his vetting before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 30, Mohammed emphasized that effective regulation of noise pollution requires a coordinated approach beyond the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology (MESTI).
He pointed out that while noise pollution may initially seem like a task solely for his ministry, tackling the issue effectively requires the involvement of a wide range of stakeholders, including traditional authorities and local governance bodies.
“Ministries and agencies should not work in isolation,” he said. “To regulate noise pollution, we need to engage local government and chieftaincy, as they are key to the success of such policies.”
Mohammed pledged to work closely with relevant ministries and agencies to devise comprehensive strategies to combat noise pollution and other environmental issues facing Ghana.
