The National Chairman of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has said call by  NPP’s vice Presidential candidate  for Ghanaians to support the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming elections is a clear verdict.

Speaking at a campaign event in Walimbelly, Sissala East Constituency, Mr. Nketia referenced comments allegedly made by Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, the NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate. He suggested that the purported endorsement reflects a growing sentiment within the ruling party that Mahama’s leadership offers a better vision for Ghana’s future.

“This call from an NPP stalwart is a clear indication that even they acknowledge John Mahama’s capability and the NDC’s commitment to transforming Ghana,” Mr. Nketia stated.

The NDC Chairman urged voters to take the message seriously and throw their support behind Mr. Mahama as the December 2024 polls draw closer.

However, Mr. Nketia tempered his remarks by cautioning that while Dr. Opoku-Prempeh’s alleged endorsement of Mahama is significant, it does not necessarily mean he seeks to displace NPP running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The claims have yet to elicit a response from Dr. Opoku-Prempeh or the ruling party, as the political atmosphere intensifies ahead of the elections.
