SoJohnson Asiedu Nketia, Chairman of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stressed the heavy responsibility the party faces following its victory in the 2024 elections. Speaking after John Dramani Mahama was declared the winner, Asiedu Nketia called for focused planning and dedication to address the nation’s challenges.
“We must be modest in our celebrations,” he said, acknowledging the weight of the mandate given by Ghanaians. “We cannot afford to disappoint them.”
He emphasized that the NDC’s victory was not just a triumph for the party, but for the millions of citizens who had placed their trust in it. “The people have entrusted us with their hopes and aspirations, and we must honour that trust by working diligently to restore the nation,” he added.
Asiedu Nketia urged the party to shift from celebration to serious planning, calling for unity, humility, and accountability in the coming weeks. “This is not a moment for complacency but for action,” he said, stressing the need to focus on national reconciliation and economic recovery.
With high expectations from the incoming government, Asiedu Nketia’s remarks served as a reminder to the NDC to deliver on its promises and work toward rebuilding the country.
