The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned what it describes as the “kidnapping” of Sylvia Patience Baah, the Emirates Airlines Airport Manager in Accra, allegedly by operatives of Ghana’s National Security Secretariat and National Investigations Bureau (NIB).

In a fiery press statement signed by its National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., the NDC revealed that Sylvia Baah was reportedly abducted on November 21, 2024, outside her residence in Accra.

According to the statement, she was blindfolded, handcuffed, and bundled into an unmarked vehicle before enduring a two-hour drive to an unknown location.

The party claims she was detained for nearly 24 hours, threatened, and later abandoned in a bush near Ashaiman.

“This brazen impunity and outright lawlessness by supposed officers of law enforcement and state security have brought enormous embarrassment to Ghana,” the statement read.

The NDC identified three individuals allegedly linked to the incident, including Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Director General of the National Signals Bureau; Benjamin Ansah, Operations Director of the NSB; and Rashida Saani Nasamu, described as a “powerful waakye seller.” The party alleges that the abduction was retaliation for a professional disagreement between Sylvia Baah and these individuals.

The NDC slammed the incident as indicative of the “reign of terror” under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.

“For eight years, Ghanaians have witnessed a reign of terror in which certain miscreants within the national security apparatus have continuously taken the law into their own hands to unleash state-sponsored terrorism on innocent civilians,” the party stated.

The NDC has called on the Inspector-General of Police to expedite an impartial investigation into the matter, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of all individuals involved.

With just ten days to the polls, the party urged Ghanaians to vote for change, promising that an NDC government under John Dramani Mahama would restore the rule of law and the safety of all citizens.

“Ghanaians are not safe under this regime of terror,” the statement concluded.
