A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in the Ashanti Region has petitioned the police to investigate an alleged looting incident at the STC bus terminals in Oforikrom and Adum.

According to the group, an informant tipped them off about missing equipment at the terminals, prompting them to alert the police and visit the premises for further inspection. Upon arrival, the group reported discovering several essential items, including power plants, car tyres, and other equipment, were unaccounted for.

Alhaji Nje, the leader of the group and a member of the Ashanti Regional Inter-Party and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Committee, stated that when they inquired about a missing power plant, the terminal administrator claimed it had been sent for repairs. However, an engineer at the Oforikrom terminal contradicted this, saying a receipt had been presented earlier indicating that the plant had been sold.

The group has reported the alleged looting at the Oforikrom terminal to the Oforikrom Police Station, while the Adum terminal case is being handled by the Adum Divisional Police.

Alhaji Nje said they are awaiting feedback from the police while conducting background checks and gathering more information. This will later be submitted to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team for further investigation.

“I received information with pictures showing some tyres and machines believed to be missing from the yard,” Nje said. “We visited the site with Oforikrom constituency executives and the task force, and we informed the police before arriving. Upon inspection, the plant was gone, and three brand-new buses had been burnt. It’s concerning, and we’ve asked the police to investigate the matter.”
