Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has claimed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is already losing the 2024 general election. His comments followed a press conference by the NDC, in which the opposition party called on its supporters to monitor collation centres across the country, remain vigilant, and avoid premature celebrations of the election results.

Aboagye asserted that the results of the election had already been determined at the polling stations, noting that both parties had copies of the pink sheets, which contain the recorded votes. “Every political party has copies of the pink sheet, and they know very well they are losing this election,” he said. “That is why they will call for havoc.”

The NPP spokesperson expressed confidence that the NPP would win, once the Electoral Commission (EC) officially declares the results. He denied allegations from the NDC that the NPP might seek to rig the election, drawing a comparison to the biblical story of two women who brought a dispute over a child to King Solomon for judgment. “The NDC knows they’ve lost, and that’s why they are irresponsibly urging their supporters to disrupt the collation process,” he claimed.

Aboagye also questioned why the NDC would ask its supporters to gather at collation centres if they believed they were on track for victory. “Why would any political party that is confident it has won want to disrupt the electoral process?” he asked.

In response to the NDC’s call for supporters to protect the collation process, Aboagye encouraged NPP members to do the same, urging them to assist the police in safeguarding the Electoral Commission’s operations.
