A group of individuals, believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), reportedly locked the offices of several key government agencies in New Juaben South on Wednesday, January 8. The agencies targeted included the National Identification Authority (NIA), the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the National Service Secretariat (NSS), and the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

The group then moved on to regional offices of these institutions, attempting to repeat their actions. While no reports of violence emerged, staff members at the affected offices were left shaken by the incident.

Authorities quickly responded, with the Koforidua Divisional Police Commander and a team of armed officers, including the Counter-Terrorism Unit, intervening to restore order.

The motives behind the actions remain unclear, though sources suggest the incident may be linked to similar occurrences in 2017, when politically motivated actions were seen during a government transition.

Calm has been restored, and staff have resumed their regular work.
