The Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, has strongly denied allegations that he reached out to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee to facilitate the return of land he is accused of acquiring illegally.

The claims were made by Martin Kpebu, a member of the ORAL Committee, who alleged that Mr. Quaicoe had agreed to return a state-owned parcel of land in exchange for the committee ceasing its actions against him.

In a statement issued on his behalf by law firm KUDZE@LAW, Mr. Quaicoe described the accusations as “false, contrived, and baseless.” The statement further stressed that he had not been in contact with any ORAL Committee members, including Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, regarding matters related to state land.

The NIB chief also refuted claims that he owns or has unlawfully acquired government land, countering remarks made by Kpebu during a television appearance on TV3’s Keypoints program.

Mr. Quaicoe’s legal team underscored his commitment to transparency and legal compliance, calling the allegations part of an attempt to tarnish his reputation. They urged the public to disregard the false statements, while demanding that Kpebu retract his “defamatory” comments. Failure to do so, they warned, could lead to legal action.

The ORAL Committee, tasked with recovering state assets improperly acquired by individuals, was established by former President John Dramani Mahama in December 2024. The committee, led by Ablakwa, aims to restore public trust and ensure accountability in the management of state property.
