Officials from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) have surrounded the residence of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a Member of Parliament for Assin South, in what opposition leaders are describing as a politically charged move. The development follows the MP’s recent allegations regarding suspicious flights arriving at Kotoka International Airport, which he suggested could be linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.

Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), condemned the action on social media, calling it a troubling escalation of political intimidation. “Say No to State Intimidation,”Mr.  Frimpong wrote in a post on April 9, highlighting what he claims is a growing pattern of harassment directed at critics of the current administration.

Government officials, however, have dismissed Mr.Fordjour’s allegations as unfounded, casting doubt on the claims of illicit activity. Despite the rebuttal, the incident has fueled concerns that opposition figures are being silenced over sensitive matters. The standoff at Fordjour’s home has further ignited political tensions, with many questioning the state’s growing control over dissent.
