The Office of the President has decided not to pursue further disciplinary measures against the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following his public apology over a controversial video that surfaced last week.

At a press briefing on May 14 at the Jubilee House, Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu said Mr. Gyamfi had been formally cautioned but would face no additional sanctions.

“In the last few days, there have been matters relating to the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, regarding a video that emerged of his interaction with Agradaa,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu told reporters. “In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Mr. Gyamfi issued an apology and responded to public concerns.”

Following the video’s circulation, Mr. Gyamfi was summoned by the Chief of Staff to provide clarity on the matter. President Mahama, who was out of the country at the time, was subsequently briefed on the developments. The Presidency, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu noted, has accepted the apology and considers the matter closed.

“When President Mahama launched the Code of Conduct, he outlined a public apology and an official caution as remedies for potential breaches,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said. “Mr. Gyamfi has complied with these provisions, and the Chief of Staff has delivered a formal caution.”

The spokesperson emphasized that the administration values public feedback and remains committed to maintaining high ethical standards among public officials.

“Mr. Gyamfi has assured the Presidency that a similar incident will not recur,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu concluded.

The decision not to impose further sanctions comes amid heightened scrutiny of public officials’ conduct, reflecting the administration’s balancing act between accountability and proportionality in disciplinary actions.
