Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, has issued a firm reminder to residents and business operators in Accra regarding the importance of keeping the newly inaugurated Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange free from unauthorized structures. This includes kiosks, wooden shops, and mechanic workshops.
During the inauguration of Phase II of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange on November 29, the minister underscored the need to preserve both the aesthetics and functionality of the infrastructure. His comments align with previous warnings about similar issues at the Flower Pot Interchange.
Titus Glover expressed concern that informal businesses often encroach on new infrastructural projects shortly after their completion. He recounted a recent incident where, despite a clear warning during the Flower Pot Interchange inauguration, two vendors—a coconut seller and a banana seller—set up stalls under the flyover.
The minister urged residents to respect government efforts to improve the city’s infrastructure and maintain its visual appeal. “Last week, during the commissioning of the Flower Pot Interchange, I stated that we do not want any kiosks or mechanics around the shoulders of this interchange,” he said. “Let us allow the ambience and beauty of the place to continue.”
