NPP Communications Directorate Left Empty as Journalists Await Updates During Collation

The usually busy New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Directorate remained unusually quiet early on Sunday morning, leaving journalists in limbo as the collation process continued.

JoyNews correspondent Kenneth Gyasi reported that two press conferences had been scheduled between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. to update the media, but neither took place. The first was planned for 11:45 p.m. and the second for 2 a.m., but both were cancelled without explanation.

This marks a departure from the NPP’s usual practice of addressing the nation from its national headquarters. The Communications Directorate had been chosen as the focal point for disseminating information, with key figures like campaign spokesperson Miracles Aboagye and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong previously using the space for press briefings.

By 2:30 a.m., the once-bustling premises were deserted, with only security personnel and a handful of journalists remaining. Gyasi noted that just an hour and a half earlier, the area had been filled with party executives’ vehicles.

While the party had promised regular updates over the next three days, journalists reported that no official communication had been received since the last briefing. Despite assurances of ongoing updates, the absence of any NPP executives has left the press waiting for further information.
