The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled 280 members, including the incumbent Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Morrison, effective December 16, 2024.

The decision was made during an Expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting on December 15, 2024.

The expelled members are banned indefinitely from identifying as party members, holding any party positions, attending party meetings, or using party symbols and flags.

The move follows numerous complaints against the individuals, who are accused of standing as independent candidates, supporting other political parties, or backing independent candidates during the recent parliamentary elections.

Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, Constituency Chairman, stated that the action was in accordance with the party’s constitution, which aims to uphold discipline and unity within the NPP.
