The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has warned against any attempts to manipulate the results of the 2024 parliamentary elections. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday evening, Kodua called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to ensure law and order at collation centers nationwide.

Kodua accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of inciting unrest at collation centers in constituencies where the NPP, according to him, had clearly won. “The data that led our flagbearer to concede this morning shows that the NPP has won these constituencies, but the NDC, unwilling to accept their defeat, is trying to pressure the Electoral Commission into altering the results,” he said.

The NPP General Secretary condemned the violence attributed to NDC supporters and reiterated that his party would not tolerate any attempts to tamper with the election outcome. “We will resist every attempt to alter the results in these constituencies,” he declared.

Kodua also called on the IGP to act swiftly and uphold his commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections. “Mr. IGP, you promised on two occasions to ensure that we have a fair election. Now is the time to protect the rights and safety of citizens at collation centers,” he said, urging the police to prevent any illegal intimidation.

Finally, Kodua appealed to the NDC leadership to call their supporters to order and denounce the violence.
