The Minority in Parliament has condemned what it calls an attempted intimidation of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a senior MP and Ranking Member of the Interior and Defence Committee, following a failed attempt to arrest him by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).

The incident stems from Rev.  Fordjour’s recent allegations regarding two suspicious flights arriving at Kotoka International Airport, which he claimed were linked to drug trafficking and money laundering. On Wednesday, April 9, the NIB attempted to arrest Rev. Fordjour at his residence in Accra, but was unsuccessful.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin responded to the incident, expressing strong support for Fordjour and rejecting any attempts to intimidate opposition members. Mr.Afenyo-Markin described the move by the NIB as politically motivated, aimed at stifling dissent within Parliament.

He reiterated the Minority’s commitment to ensuring transparency in investigating the claims made by Fordjour and emphasized the importance of due process. Afenyo-Markin also urged the public to stay vigilant in the face of what he called growing political harassment.
