Parliament has approved three new ministerial nominees, with Abla Dzifa Gomashie set to lead the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, George Opare-Addo taking charge of the Ministry for Youth Empowerment and Development, and Emelia Arthur appointed as Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The approval came on Thursday, January 23, following a debate and pending their official swearing-in by President John Mahama. The nominees were thoroughly vetted by the Appointments Committee on January 22, 2025.

This move comes just days after Parliament approved other key ministers, including Ahmed Ibrahim for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey for Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare for Trade and Industry.

With these latest approvals, the total number of ministers confirmed by Parliament rises to 12, with six having been sworn in earlier this week on January 21.

Meanwhile, the Appointments Committee continues its work, now vetting Regional Ministers. As of January 23, the Northern Regional Minister-designate, Ali Adolf; Oti Regional Minister-designate, John Kwadwo Agyapong; and Volta Regional Minister-designate, James Gunu, have all been successfully vetted.
