Patrick Boakye Yiadom of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been officially declared the winner of the Obuasi East Parliamentary seat following a re-collation of votes on Saturday, December 21.

Boakye Yiadom secured 18,558 votes, narrowly defeating his closest rival, Samuel Aboagye of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who received 18,549 votes. Independent candidate Adjei Owusu gained 424 votes.

The declaration comes after a High Court ruling, which instructed the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-collate results for several constituencies, including Obuasi East, despite prior results having been announced.

This ruling followed legal action from both NPP and NDC candidates, who sought to compel the EC to conduct fresh elections, citing alleged irregularities in the collation process and the declaration of winners.
