Incumbent Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has successfully retained his Okaikwei Central parliamentary seat following a tight contest in the 2024 general election.

Boamah secured 21,171 votes, narrowly defeating Abdulai Abu Baba Abubakar Sadiq of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 19,272 votes.

The voter turnout in the constituency was 61.8%, with 40,443 ballots cast from a total of 65,431 registered voters. A total of 164 ballots were rejected during the counting process.

In the presidential race within Okaikwei Central, NDC candidate John Dramani Mahama led with 21,890 votes, while NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received 16,785 votes, reflecting Mahama’s dominance in the area.

The collation process was marred by tensions at the Ansurudeen Islamic School polling station on December 7, where disputes over space for polling agents led to the destruction of voting booths and delays in the counting process. Despite the disruptions, the collation was completed, and Boamah was declared the winner, securing his position as the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central.
